Watch Your Mouth

By: Jiloml

“Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing."(NIV) Proverbs 12: 18

Bible reading: Proverbs 12: 18, 23

Words are powerful and as such God helps us to understand all the time that they can make and unmake people. For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. Whatever we think of as Christians is very vital in our relationship with the people around us.

Thoughts translates into words, therefore as we filter our thoughts, so must we guard our mouths.

Sticks and stones inflict wounds which heal in time but words can go much deeper and cause pain that lasts a lifetime. An effective and productive Christian is one that holds his/her tongue. We must therefore season our words so that we may serve as source of inspiration for others and not shatter their spirit.

Some of us may not realize or better still esteem how other believers look up to us. God has made us examples for others and as such we must cherish these people who love and respect us. We much seek their spiritual growth and we can only do that if we watch our mouths.

Let’s pray with the Psalmist in Psalm 19: 14: May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my hearts be acceptable in your sight O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. Amen.

Words can’t break BONES, but they can break HEARTS
