Childlike Humility

By: Jiloml

“Whoever humbles himself as this little child is the GREATEST in the kingdom of Heaven."(NIV) Matthew 18:4

As Christians we always want others to learn from us especially the newly born, little do we know that we can learn so much from them instead. There are so many ways that we can grow to be effective Christians and one of them is to learn in humility from other believers whether older or younger than us in Christ. This is because the number of years you spend with the Lord does not necessarily determine your level of productivity in Christ. Instead it depends on how much you avail yourself to the Lord. A typical example is the Apostle Paul.

It is without doubt that the other Apostles who walked with God showed that it is prudent to be with God for a long time, for one to learn so much from Him and be experienced in life. However, God made us aware, that is not sufficiently enough.

Our ability to avail ourselves in humility like a child is all that we need to invite the presence of God into our lives. Paul knew that and he showed us the way in Philippians 2:5, he said your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.

What makes Christ so great? Even though, He was God, He did not consider equality with God but humbled Himself so as to die a shameful death. An amazing personality! He is the one we serve and as such we can be effective and productive when we imitate this attitude: childlike humility.A child does not seek his own but that of the friend. A child cares and trusts his parents. Do we trust God to see us through? Effective and productive men of God like Paul knew this and they trusted it regarding their lives as nothing important compared to the other Christian.

If you are filled with pride, you won’t have room for Wisdom.
