CONTROLLING YOUR DESIRE

"...But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death."(NIV) James 1:14-15

The book of James presents us with practical tutorials of daily Christian living. The book opens with a practical solution to impatience; " My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience..." James 1:2-3.

Developing this attitude requires conscious effort. It demands sacrificing the spirit of unforgiveness, the spirit of pride, the desire for anger and all fleshly desires and sowing the seed of patience which produces peace and joy. James describes the role our desires play in committing sin in James 1:14.

For instance if you have the desire of getting angry easily, Satan only triggers the anger and your desire draws you to sin. Remember Satan is very cunning. Learn to welcome all unpleasant situations with joy and he will flee from you.

"But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing" James 1:4.
