"Then Peter said, 'Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.'"
Acts 3:6 (NIV)Peter and John stood at the temple gate without silver or gold, yet they carried something far more powerful, faith in the living Christ. When a beggar reached out hoping for money, Peter did not apologize for what he lacked. He simply offered what he had, and through that faith, a miracle unfolded. Too often, we hold back from giving or serving because we feel underqualified, waiting until we possess more skill, more resources, or more confidence. But God has never required us to give what we do not have. He asks only for what is already in our hands. David carried a sling (1 Samuel 17:40), Dorcas a needle (Acts 9:36-39), and the Samaritan woman nothing more than her own testimony (John 4:28-30), yet God used each of them powerfully. Our value is never determined by what we possess or lack materially, but by who we are in Christ.
So what do you currently hold that could bless someone else today? A smile, a listening ear, a whispered prayer, a kind word, a helping hand, a thoughtful phone call, or simply your undivided time, these small offerings can brighten someone's darkest day and reflect the very heart of God. Never underestimate the value of what is already in your hand. Like Peter and John, offer it boldly in Jesus' name. You may not have silver or gold, but what you do have may be exactly what someone else desperately needs, hope, healing, and the tangible presence of Christ. What small thing are you holding back today out of fear? Lord, help us to give freely what we have.
Lord, help me to stop waiting until I feel fully equipped and instead offer what is already in my hands. Use my simple gifts, my time, my words, my presence, to bless someone who needs You today. Give me the courage to give freely in Your name. Amen.
