Keep on Knocking

"Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you."

Matthew 7:7 (NLT)

Prolonged desire to accomplish something, coupled with an inexplicable inability to move forward, can feel deeply confusing, even discouraging. In such seasons, prayer becomes essential, not as a formality but as an ongoing conversation with the God who understands what we cannot yet see. There are times when a difficulty resolves quickly after we bring it to the Lord, and other times when we find ourselves asking, seeking, and knocking repeatedly with no apparent answer. In those stretches of silence, well-meaning but misguided voices around us may suggest that God has stopped listening altogether. But Jesus' instruction in Matthew 7:7 is not a one-time request; it is a call to persistence, keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking, because the answer is coming even when the timing is not our own.

When issues take an unusually long toll and God seems silent, it is tempting to believe the doubts whispered by discouragement rather than the promises spoken by God. But that is precisely the moment to press in further rather than pull back, examining honestly whether our faith, boldness, and trust truly reflect the confidence we claim to have in Him. Sometimes God is not withholding an answer but waiting for us to seek Him more wholeheartedly, with less of ourselves and more of genuine reliance on Christ. Every trial that seems to stretch on endlessly can still end in praise and glory to God, as long as we stay true to His Word and trust Him quietly through the waiting. Do not fret, for fear does not come from Him. He who has called you is faithful, and He will do it (1 Thessalonians 5:24). Keep knocking. The door will open.

Closing Prayer

Lord, when my prayers seem to go unanswered and my patience wears thin, help me to keep asking, seeking, and knocking without losing heart. Strengthen my faith and boldness as I bring every trial before You, trusting that You are faithful and will answer in Your perfect time. Amen.
