We’ll Be Surprised By Top Honours.

By: Jiloml

“Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the very last, and the servant of all."(NIV) Mark 9:35

Many a times, as Christians we tend to forget that we are strangers in this world. We pride ourselves in the possessions we have in this world and we forget that we are on a journey.

Our stop in this world is just but for a moment, so that we can get some “water and snacks”. Its unfortunate most of us have over stayed our break time. Today, we must rethink of our life and prepare to journey well to our maker.

Heaven will be indeed full of Honours. Most of us who on the journey and seem to be the “big bosses” are cautioned today by our Lord Jesus. We must be careful not to lose focus because of the grace of leadership given to us.

Jesus said, for one to be first, he must be servant of all. What are our attitudes towards other Christians who in one way or the other seem not to be endowed like us? Do we esteem them better than ourselves as Jesus admonishes us?

Are we caring for the weak? Do we do all in our power to maintain the peace that God has blessed us with, wherever we find ourselves? As managers, how do we treat our workers? As servants, helpers or workers, are we doing what is expected of us?

Hmm… heaven will indeed be full of surprises, honours and glory will be for behaviours that are natural. Top honours will be given to people we least expect.

We can be effective if we have a humble attitude in reaching out to others. To live for ourselves and get ahead brings limited reward but to care for the needs of others brings unlimited reward from God.

To all Ghanaians, we might have lost a great leader-President Atta Mills, who served Ghana with his life, but let us be encouraged that God has received him.

As Christians, a work that is well done for Christ will receive a “well done” from Christ.
