DON’T BE SELFISH

"Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. Because of these, the wrath of God is coming."(NIV) Colossians 3:5-6

This is a conversation that ensued between two colleagues.

Kofi: Good morning Chris, how are you doing?

Chris: Do I look like I am not well? And why are you still standing in front of my desk? Can’t you see I am busy working?

Kofi: Am sorry for the bother, Chris. I thought it best to check on you this morning. I will be in my office if you need anything.

Chris: No thanks, I don’t need you checking on me. I am waiting for an important call, one which will put me in a better position than you are.

Kofi: that’s cool. I wish you all the best man!

Chris: I am not your man! Seriously Kofi, I am better off without you! Please out of my office.

Kofi: all right. Stay blessed Chris.

Chris: oops! What a waste in life.

Like Chris, we have looked down on others who tried to show us love. In our quest to succeed in life, we end up crushing everyone that doesn’t matter in our life. We only seek to impress those who we feel are in a position to help us succeed.

But the sad truth is, we don’t need all these “acting” to stand out as Christians. We only need to look over our shoulders at the person standing next to us. It may be the rich man in our neighborhood or the pauper who just passed by.

Every one matters to Christ. So as followers of this great man, everything and everyone matters, no matter the contribution to our lives. This is our chance to live right as children of God, so don’t be SELFISH.
