A Thankful Heart

By: Lizmat

“Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (NIV) 1 Thessalonians 5:18

God desires that we live a life of thanksgiving every day. He expects us to cultivate an attitude of gratitude regardless of the situation in which we find ourselves.

We may ask ourselves “am I to thank God for the challenges and problems that come my way?” No, Scripture didn’t say Give thanks for all situations, but instead it says Give thanks in all situations. This means that no matter the situation, our lives must be full of thanksgiving.

Romans 8:28 – says all things work together for good for they that Love God. So it doesn’t matter what goes on around us or in our lives, we must give thanks to God. Colossians 3:17 – every word or deed from us must be done in thanksgiving to God. We must understand that as children of God we can’t be disadvantaged and that’s why God expects us to give thanks because only a true Christian can, when faced with hard times, lift up his or her eyes and say ”Thank you God”. This is what God requires of us.
