A MANDATORY VIRTUE

"Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove Faithful." (NIV) John 21:3

Faithfulness is not just any virtue that Christians decide to have or forgo. It is virtue required of us as Christians. God our father is defined by this virtue and He has called us to this nature. Therefore, we cannot consider act of remaining faithful as a matter of choice but that of obligation.

The Bible says “it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove Faithful” ( 1 Corinthians 4: 2). This means that no one is exempted from this obligation. We can’t be called Christians if we can’t be faithful to our partners, family relations, children, superiors, co-workers, lecturers/ teachers, students, men of God, church brethren, elders etc.

All of us have been given a trust by God, to some the trust of Fatherhood, Motherhood, others that of students and preachers. However big or small your trust may be, God expects us to show signs of FAITHFULNESS.

Whatever we find doing in life, God has entrusted it to us and as stewards, He demands our faithfulness. We can’t do without it as Christians because it is the very nature of God in us.

Paul, in his addressed to the Colossian church called them as “the Holy and Faithful brothers in Christ” (Colossians 1:2). This is how God wants us to be addressed daily in all that we do: “holy and faithful” so let’s prove that we are worth the address.
