Still standing
"I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" (NIV) Luke 18:8
One of the most powerful forces that captures heaven’s attention is faith—not just fleeting belief but a faith that endures. While faith can sometimes be momentary, serving a specific purpose, God seeks a kind that outlives answered prayers and survives beyond temporary achievements. It is this unwavering faith that God treasures most (Hebrews 11:6).
In Luke 18:1-7, Jesus illustrates the power of persistent faith and determined prayer through the parable of the persistent widow. Despite repeated refusals, she did not give up. Her perseverance eventually led to justice. This mirrors the kind of faith God desires—not one that fades when challenges arise, but one that still stands regardless of the outcome.
God, in His goodness, grants us blessings even when we are inconsistent. However, He longs for a faith that remains steadfast—a faith that does not waver with changing seasons. In Hebrews 10:23, we are reminded to "hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful."
As trials come, will our faith endure? In good times, will our faith wither? Shall we cease to pray? When God searches the earth, will He find a people whose trust in Him still stands? In a world of uncertainty, many lose heart, but we are called to stand firm (Ephesians 6:13).
True faith is not just about believing for a moment—it is about standing through the storms, and trusting that God is good. It is about giving ourselves to prayer, even when we feel no need for it. May our faith and prayers not just exist but persist. May both be found still standing when the Lord comes.
