"But as me, I watch in hope for the LORD, I wait for God my savior; my God will hear me."
Micah 7:7 (NIV)Modernization has trained us to expect instant results. Fast transportation, instant communication, and rapid technology have shortened waiting times across nearly every area of life, and this has quietly shaped our expectations of God as well. We want direction, answers, and breakthroughs quickly, yet Scripture consistently calls believers to a different posture: patient, hopeful waiting. Micah declares, "As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me." God continues to guide His people through His Word, His creation, other believers, and the circumstances we face daily, but waiting itself serves a purpose. It builds faith, directs our paths, and prepares us for challenges still ahead (Psalm 27:14).
Scripture offers sobering examples of what happens when we refuse to wait. King Saul's impatience cost him God's favor and ultimately his kingdom (1 Samuel 13:1-14), and Israel's reluctance in the wilderness delayed the blessings God had already planned for them (Joshua 5:6). Job, by contrast, stands as an example of patient endurance rewarded with a glorious end. The psalmist instructs us to be still before the Lord and wait patiently, refusing to grow anxious when the wicked seem to prosper through their own schemes (Psalm 37:7). Whatever trial or delay you are currently facing, continue living according to God's Word and trust His timing completely. He always makes the end glorious for those who wait on Him faithfully.
Lord, teach me to wait on You patiently, even when the world around me demands instant results. Build my faith through this season of waiting, and prepare me for whatever lies ahead. I trust that You will make a way and that Your timing is always right. Amen.
