For His name sake
“Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you” (NIV) Matthew 5:10-12
It is so important that we do everything for the honor of His name. When we learn what it is to fellowship in the sufferings of Christ, we are able to lay before the feet of the Lord saying "Father, Thy will be done." We are able to give everything into the Lord’s hands.
When the Lord Jesus Christ looked into the cup which His Father put in His hand, He saw that Judas would betray Him. He saw that Peter would deny Him. He saw that the High Priest would blaspheme Him. He saw that Pilate would give sentence against Him to be crucified. Jesus saw all this in the cup. Matthew 26:42 says, "He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done." Jesus did this because of God and so can we.
