"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace."(NIV) Ephesians 5:21
Unity in Christ is a very important thing to God. No wonder Christ prayed for the unity of the church and disciples before He left this earth.
He knew and acknowledged its importance to our growth as Christians. He being our example inspires in us to do likewise.
The question is how can we be united in spirit if we are all seeking our own interest? It all bores down to Selfish Ambition.
We are all trying to do everything possible to be pleasing and right before God. And by so doing, we may offend others; we are merciless with others in our dealings and impatient with people who try to sabotage our efforts.
But God says there is a better way to please him; “be patient with each other, making allowances for each other’s faults”. However, we cannot be selfless if we do not have Love for each other.
We must ask God to increase our love for each other so we may be selfless as we make it our business to keep ourselves united in Christ. We must know that no one is without fault except God.
