HOLINESS?

“But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: Be holy, because I am holy."(NIV) 1 Peter 1:15-16

Bible Reading: : 1 Peter 1: 13-16

Today’s devotion presents us with the transcendent Holiness of God. We are not to be as holy as God is; this is because it is a burden no one can bear. We must understand that God is God and we are not. In the same way, we must learn not to “bring God down” to be like us instead we must lift ourselves up to be like Him as well as recognizing the otherness of God.

God does not conform to a Standard, because He is that Standard. God is an absolute infinite, incomprehensible fullness of purity that is incapable of being other than what He is. Holiness is the unique characteristics of God which separates Him from His created beings and the so called gods.

Holiness must be the business of every Christian especially if we seek to be very productive in Christ. Holiness is not the way to Christ but Christ is the way to holiness, so let’s stop focusing on our strength and seek the way of Christ.

Holiness is not what God gives us, but also what we manifest in the life that God has given us. Let’s remember, Holiness is a practice, a process and a position.

Most Christians want to exchange Holiness for cheap, false spirituality. It is true that spirituality can be faked but Holiness cannot. It is our duty to perfect holiness in the fear of God.

Holiness is God’s number one attributes and is explained by the others.
