Filter Your Thoughts

By: Lizmat

“For as he thinks within himself, so is he … ” (NIV) Proverbs 23:7

Have come across a song or a book that you feel it is totally contradicting the word of God? Have you considered why such songs or books become so popular after some few days of release? Perhaps you might have found yourself nodding to the beat of such a song some few days ago. Today’s world is full of such information that is totally unhealthy for our soul as Christians. Our mind which is the door to our human spirit consciously or unconsciously assimilates them and deposits them in our spirit. So how do we survive in such a deteriorating world? Our way out is to filter whatever information that enters the door of our heart.

Every now and then we exposed to all sort of information from the media and from the very people around us. We deceive ourselves by thinking we are too strong to fall. It’s only a song; it’s only a book as we soak ourselves in them. It’s about time we filter this information and guard our heart so that our spirit will receive only what is desirable to survive in this world.

We ought to use God’s word as a filter to stop whatever information that is contrary to God’s provision from entering our heart. Remember that whatever life we live today is as a result of the thoughts we allowed into our hearts. The thoughts we allow give rise to the words we speak.

If we want to survive in this world and the challenges of moral degeneration that has become a canker of this generation, we ought to let God’s word transform our thoughts (Rom 12:2). Let us meditate on His word day in and day out, and we will overcome (Rom 8:31, 37).
