We are weak but He is Mighty
Then Moses answered and said, “But suppose they will not believe me or listen to my voice; suppose they say, ‘The Lord has not appeared to you.’ ” (NKV) Exodus 4:1
The second book of Moses, Exodus, describes the historical event of the Israelites, their salvation from slavery in Egypt and Moses been the person through whom the deliverance will come.
God first saved the infant Moses from death and provided him with the best education in Pharaoh's court. In this royal court and later in the Midianite wilderness, God shaped Moses into an instrument for saving his people Israelites from slavery.
Moses, the elected mediator between the Israelites and God was to draw and put his trust in Yahweh by dwelling in God's strength and abilities, but initially, he depended on his strength and abilities.
First, by his strength, he killed the Egyptian when he saw him beating the Hebrew in Exodus 2:11-12, which created fear in him to flee to Midian. Second, in Exodus 3, where we read his encounter with God on the mountain. Moses who was initially willing and did kill on behalf of the Hebrew, when asked to go and redeem the Israelites from their slavery, gave several excuses. The question then is, why will He do that? This isn't because he didn't know God, he knew him! This isn't because he didn't know that God is all-powerful, he also knew that! But it was because he was dwelling in his strength, knowledge and ability which could not save the Israelites from slavery.
We see that until Moses had put his trust in God to draw strength from Him, nothing was achieved or accomplished by him. He was only able to achieve and accomplish it all through the strength and power of Yahweh. The Apostle Paul said, "I can do all things through Jesus Christ who strengthens me" Philippines 4:13.
My beloved Brother and Sister, your strength, wisdom, knowledge and abilities alone will not guarantee success. It is only through Christ that you can achieve and accomplish anything. In how many things have your strength, knowledge, wisdom, and ability failed you? I believe it has been uncountable, right? So why don't you trust in Christ as your Lord and saviour fully? Why don't you ask him to control your life so that His mighty hand may be in your stressful marriage and other stressful situations you may be going through? Remember that God's might and glory can only be seen unless we realize that we are weak. His mighty hand can only be seen in our weakest moment.
May the good Lord help us all to live as this hymn goes:
"Guide me oh thy great Jehovah
Keep me through this barren land
I am weak but thou art mighty
Hold me with thy powerful hand..."
Stay blessed and keep safe!
