The price too high to pay
“But the King replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the Lord my God that have cost me NOTHING.” So David paid him fifty pieces of silver…” (NLT) 2 Samuel 24:24

Often, the weight of God’s ultimate sacrifice lurks around my thoughts. It provokes a higher level of commitment and a state of re-examination for me as a Christian.
How worthy are we? How deserving are we of God’s ultimate sacrifice? The unimaginable sacrifice that ensured our freedom, our rights and our justification was secured. I wondered where my life would be without this grace?
Beloved brethren in the Lord, the debt owed was enormous and the price to be paid very high. But He paid it all the same out of love for us. A love that is farfetched from human reason and understanding.
So anytime you take a good look at yourself in a mirror, just know you are worth more than all the precious stones in the world. The greatest King out there chose you above His cherished messengers (the angels).
Such a price is worthy of sacrifice and commitment. But our God, on the other hand, expects nothing but a throne room full of praise for the awe and majestic display of his greatest achievement - dying to save us.
Therefore, it beholds on us to re-examine ourselves daily and to ask “what am I offering to the Lord for His saving grace?” How much time am I investing or do I invest in His kingdom work”. What is it that I am seeking first?
Beloved, never forget that the price was too high to pay. Our Lord could have walked away from the whole trade but He didn’t. It wasn’t because He had no choice; instead, it was because of how valuable we are in His sight. So, let’s make this sacrifice worth something. This is never the time to give up.
Like David, offer something that costs you everything. There is no small gift as long as it’s from a genuine heart; the Lord is the judge of it all.
Today, the word of God is reminding us to make our calling sure by making an offering (in any form) to the Lord. Remember, It MUST COST YOU if for nothing at all EVERYTHING. Shalom!!!
