Service to humanity
“For You, Brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another." (NKJV) Gal. 5:13.
To serve is to perform or discharge duties or services for another. It also means to be of use in achieving something. In Biblical terms, we would say to serve is to honour God completely and honestly without anticipation of a reward.
I am a teacher and I see my job as a way of helping others. It has never been about what I will gain but rather about what I will give to my students through servitude so that they can achieve their dreams. I consider my job as a gift to others and always glad to serve because of these two main reasons:
First, I believe that those who think and help others as well as making others needs a priority are valuable to the world. Charles Dickens' quote captures the above statement in a precise way, "No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another".
Second, hard work and dedication are the way to success, but the journey to success is not always easy. People need all the encouragement they can get to lessen their burdens. Therefore, helping someone to come out of a distressing situation is the duty of everyone with the Christian name tag because our manual (Bible) teaches us so.
Beloved, service to humanity is obedience to God. As Christians may service to humanity be part of our lives always.
