Be truthful

Written by Derrick Owusu Antwi.

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness" (NKJV) Ephesians 6:13-14.

One of the virtues we need to live with as Christians/children of God is to be truthful. Being truthful means being honest or accurate with oneself and others; corresponding to fact or reality.

Truth is very important. We should know that God hates lies and deception. Jesus Christ is the truth (John 14:6). We also know that the truth sets us free. (John 8:31-32).

In our contemporary world, certain people have portrayed being truthful as not so essential in their daily lives. Lies continue to creep into the system day in and day out. But as believers, we should be vigilant, know the deceptive schemes and draw away from them. We are of Christ; but not of Satan who was a liar from the beginning. (John 8:44).

We live peaceful lives when we remain true to ourselves as we journey on with Christ.

May God help us to be honest with ourselves in our endeavors. Amen.
