A man is known by his actions

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

“A man is known by his actions. An evil man lives an evil life; a good man lives a godly life.” (TLB) Proverbs 21:8

Simple bible quotation (Proverbs 21:8) yet loaded. The question is how did people see you last year? And for the past months of this year, how do people know you? Do they see you as the gloomy-faced lady, the quarrelsome wife, the selfish husband, the thoughtless colleague, the churchgoer who is ill-mannered, the gossip etc.? Or have they formed a different view of you this 2017?

Have they seen a change in you? Are you now praised because you work for God? Do they see the bitter person turn sweet towards them? Are you now selfless, thoughtful, happy/cheerful, motivating enough, loving etc.? Can you get a better witness if Christ comes today? Beloved brethren, we are as we think. That is to say, we will live good lives if our thoughts are good and vice versa.

So as the year is coming to an end, let us try our best to live godly lives for the Lord. Yes, the challenges will come but victory is from God. As such, our victory in life’s battle is sure when our actions show that we have Christ and we believe in him. The light of Christ in us must shine forth in the little corner we find ourselves, even when we are unable to do the mighty things we want to do for Him.

Remember, His eyes are roaming the earth and he is watching both the good and the evil (Proverbs 15:3).

Prayer: Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting (Psalm 139:23-24). Amen!
