The Unlimited Data Kind of Love

"And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them." (NIV) 1 John 4:16

A few weeks after the first lockdown due to the COVID 19 pandemic in Ghana, several Telcos started changing their internet data packages. I was pleasantly surprised at the change from internet data packages that expire within a short time to internet data packages that do not expire. Although data packages are labelled as unlimited, the limitation lies in the fixed duration set for you to use. So, you can either have a limited data package that does not expire or an unlimited data package that is limited by time-of-use.

For some of us who did not previously enjoy data that has no expiry, it was a great relief, and the intolerable sense of expiring data was out of the way.

As believers in Christ, we have a different kind of unlimited access to God’s love. We are not limited by the expiry of data or restricted by the amount of data we can purchase. God’s love is unlimited in every way. Nothing restrains us from God’s love (Romans 8:38-39) - not another individual's opinion, not our doubts, not our deepest sins. God is love (1 John 4:8) and unlike the limitation associated with the data packages, The Bible assures us that “neither death nor life nor principalities nor powers nor things present nor things to come shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord”.

God’s love knows no bounds and it does not discriminate. It is available to us twenty-four (24) hours a day and seven (7) days a week. Just like the internet data, we need to connect to it daily.
