I love God

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

"I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy." (NIV) Psalm 116:1

As humans, we all have strong affections for many things in the universe based on who we are, our environment and what we have been exposed to. Our love for people and items depends on how attractive they are to us and what we seek to benefit from them. Unfortunately, many things we love most end up in disappointment and frustration for us.

Let all people understand that, God does not discriminate and love us equally. Remember, God is not a being that can lie on his word. We have enough reasons to love God in all our lives. We should love God because He is so good to us as our Creator, Protector, Provider, Savior and his continuous love for us (Rom. 2:4).

God always keeps His promise and never disappoints. He is a generous provider to underserving humanity as he inspires and encourages us to love others and forgive them (Eph. 4:32). God should be loved because he wants to save us no matter our past and personality.

Loving God in a complete manner is a command. Jesus said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind” (Matt. 22:37). The loving God warned us not to lean on our own understanding because we are limited, and the consequences will be disastrous. Our love for God should be in the form of our actions but not just words.

The great aspect is that there is a promise awaiting those who faithfully love God (Prov. 3:5-6). No matter what you have suffered under many people, we can not put out trust in fellow humans but God who can keep us, protect us, answer us and direct our paths through this life. We have to love God for a secure future.
