Hopeful Faithfuls (III)
“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (NIV) Jeremiah 32:27
“Do not be anxious about anything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (NIV) Philippians 4:6
“He has made everything beautiful in its time…” (NIV) Ecclesiastes 3:11
This is the last of the devotional series “Hopeful Faithfuls”, so I would like to conclude on a happy note. It is another story of yet another amazing person I know. This time, it is not a problem he’s going through but a problem he has overcome with God’s help and I pray this story brings you hope and realization that God is capable and at the appointed time, He will do exceedingly and abundantly more than we ever asked.
My friend has been married for about 10 years without a child. In the Ghanaian society, childlessness in marriage is a great concern. The moment people get married, everyone expects them to have children and when that is not forthcoming, friends and family tend to ask many questions. This adds to the emotional stress the couple has to deal with regardless of the fact that they (the couple) will also be wondering why they are not having children. The couple again has to ward off all kinds of recommendations from friends and family. In fact, childlessness in marriage can be so devastating for the couple and it takes so much faith to remain steadfast and keep trusting in God. This is the type of experience my friend and his wife had to endure but they did that with persistent prayers and hope in the words of the Lord.
As I testify now, the Lord blessed their marriage with the cries of babies last June. They had beautiful twin boys. When I heard this wonderful news, I was overjoyed and called them immediately. We sang the hymn, “Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus”. When we successfully go through the trials, we see the mighty hand of God in our lives and our expectations are exceeded.
Whatever you may be going through today, allow the Lord to direct your path and tap strength from Him through prayers, fasting and taking solace from His word. Keep doing your part and I am sure He will provide you with the relief you seek in the best way at the right time. God bless you!
