You killed it with your thoughts

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

“One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they hated him more than ever " (NLT) Genesis 37:5

Have you ever had a dream only to realize you don’t have the immediate resource to achieve it? Yes, I am sure it has happened to all of us before. We kill our dreams with our thoughts when we activate fear instead of faith.

In the past few years, I have learned that life is all about taking our chances and opportunities as and when they come our way. Procrastinating because of a little challenge here and there is a sure way to killing that dream you have. Joseph had a dream in a situation where sincerely speaking, it was virtually impossible for his family members to bow down to him at that time. We could say that everything seemed impossible and unrealistic at the time he had the dream. There were two options for him: a) to regard it as a mere frivolous dream resulting from overeating or b) a message from God for his breakthrough.

We are all aware of his choice. In spite of spending years in prison for a crime, he didn’t commit and being betrayed by his own for the sake of his dream, Joseph kept the faith. He didn’t look at the limitations, neither did he look at the waiting time, and the bible said, God was with Joseph (Genesis 37, 39, 40-42). Have you wondered why? It was because Joseph trusted in God’s power in the situation he was in, God’s will over his, God’s knowledge concerning himself and his dream as well as the time of God. It was also because he deeply and sincerely loved the Lord and revered him. In Genesis 41:51-52, Joseph said God has made him forget all his troubles. And God has made him, Joseph, fruitful in his grief. Amazing isn’t it!!! What a trust and love for the Almighty!!!

Do we love God? Do we take his words as precedence over our lives? The level of faith, love, and obedience we show towards God is what will sustain our dreams. No matter what we dream of/desire here on earth or in the life to come with Christ, it all starts with our thoughts.

In 2 Thessalonians 3:7-13, Titus 2:7-8, Hebrews 13:5-7, 1 Peter 2:21, we are admonished to follow good examples of those who have gone ahead of us in faith, love, good works among others. Let’s pursue our dreams and avoid being burdens on others. Let’s eschew fear and embrace God’s love which builds in us strong faith to fulfill our dreams. And above all, let’s dream big to achieve bigger things for the Lord’s work. It’s no sin to dream big, the only sin comes when you don’t do it according to the direction of the Lord. Beloved brethren in the Lord, the year is still young, and you have more room for an amazing journey with the Lord. Dream to love God, dream to live for him and to work for him with all you have. Find a space out of the 24hrs to tell God to make you dream about the things you could achieve for Him and ask for directions.

And when you have the opportunity to dream, stop killing the sufficient dreams from God with your thoughts. Fear can create a barrier, what you dwell on is what turns to reality! Fear blows things out of proportion. Don’t panic, stay like David in Psalm 27 and wait on the Lord. You will see his goodness in the land of the living. Shalom!!!

The story of each day

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

“Life is more than food and your body more than clothing” Luke 12:23-NLT

Bible reading: Luke 12:22-34

When worrying or desperate to achieve all goals amidst challenges, we often hear people advice: "one day at a time". The Lord Jesus knew this when He taught on money and possessions in Luke 12:22-34. As a young person, I know how it feels to want something and not have it, for all the many reasons possible (social, economic, political, financial, emotional, and spiritual).

Life is more than food and your body more than clothing (Luke 12:23). These words of Jesus as powerful as they are most of the time escape the mind in our many struggles each day. If only we will give these words a second thought, we will indeed see God’s hand each day. I know that as humans as we are, we would prefer to culminate the days and take only a day in the year to give a rundown of God’s goodness in our lives. But that’s where the problem lies.

God does not deal with time the way we perceive it. 2 Peter 3:8 entreats us not to forget this attribute. He decrees and acts as and when He pleases and in all these, no matter the duration, it is the same for the Lord. When Jesus said not to worry about everyday life – what to eat and what to wear, we Christians need to understand the times of He who spoke to us.

Jesus is God in human form (John 1:14). This is an established fact and we would be damned/doing a disservice to ourselves not to believe it or better said accept it. So whenever we want to consider Jesus’ message on "Life is more than food and your body more than clothing", let us consider it in both times of the each “day”: our definition of day marked by the Sun and Moon God created for us in Genesis 1 and His definition based on who He is in 2 Peter 3.

In this way, we will see how well the Lord has dealt with us on a daily basis per our human calendar as well as according to God’s time. We say God’s time is the best but the issue is every day is God’s time. So instead of waiting for a specific event to thank God, lets develop the sense of God’s time which is no specific day but every day to thank Him.

Let every opportunity whatever the story brings you to your knees to thank God. He’s got your back, don’t ever forget that.

Make time to pray

Written by Daily Inspirer Team.

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” (NIV) Jeremiah 33:3

Most often than not, in our quest to be successful, we are so occupied with projects allowing us to make no ample time to speak with God. Oh, "What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?" (Mark 8:36).

Meditating on the words of Ecclesiastes 1:2-11, Ecclesiastes 9:9, Ecclesiastes 12:13 brings me joy beyond compare, a reason not to worry, a reason to make time with God and a reason to be an example to the world. Brethren, let us not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let's present our requests to God (Philippians 4:6).

Above all, let us continue to trust in God and lean not on our own understanding (Proverbs 3:5-6). Life is beautiful and our God is alive, so let us enjoy living and make time to pray.

Who is willing to consecrate him/her self today to the Lord? || More

Who is willing to consecrate him/her self today to the Lord?

Written by Dede Abebreser Tsonyake.

“For the gold work and silver work, for all the work to be done by the craftsmen. Now, who is willing to consecrate himself today to the Lord?” (NIV) 1 Chronicles 29:5

Bible reading: 1 Chronicles 29:1-9

The Encarta dictionary has five definitions for consecrate. However, one definition caught my attention the most; “to dedicate somebody or something to a particular purpose.” So I will rephrase the topic, “who is willing to dedicate or commit him/her self today to the Lord?” Reading 1 Chronicles 29:1-9 tells the story of how King David addresses the assemble about how he is providing all his resources for the building of the Lord’s temple though Solomon was appointed by God to build His temple. After his address, he then asked the people in 1 Chronicles 29:5, “who is willing to consecrate himself today to the Lord?” This question then motivated the leaders of families, officers and commanders of the tribes of Israel as well as officials in charge of King David’s work to also give towards the work on the temple of God.

The need to consecrate ourselves to the Lord’s work is now but those of us making the call to others must first consecrate or dedicate ourselves completely so that it would be the motivation others who are not dedicated to the Lord would need to heed to this call. The only way we can dedicate completely to the Lord is by studying His Word in the bible. The bible has all it takes to know what God expects of us. The time to study the bible is now! If you need help with studying the bible, kindly contact the Daily Inspirer Team.

After King David asked to know who was willing to consecrate himself, it encouraged the others to give because they were motivated by David’s example. So today, if you are motivated by a Christian’s dedication to the Lord, don’t just feel motivated, but make a bold step of dedicating yourself to the Lord as well. Dedicate yourself through repentance, baptism and continue to study the word of God.

I believe the only sure way you can pass through the year blessed is to consecrate yourself fully to the Lord. I have made up my mind to fully dedicate myself to the Lord, what about you? God bless you.

The valid worry: Investing in Christ

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

"Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need."(NIV) Matthew 6:33

As dearly beloved Children of God, we have been commanded not to worry about anything. This is clear in Philippians 4: 6 “Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Life is full of challenges and as long as we are in this corruptible body, we are not immune to this daily sufferings and issues.

The confidence we have in Christ is the ability to go to God with all our worries, casting our burdens unto him for He cares (Psalm 55:22, 1 Peter 5:7). This is the foundation of our hope. It is what sustains us as believers.

As Matthew 6: 25-34 encourages us, we must not worry about life issues, instead we have to give attention to what I call the “valid worry” – i.e. to seek God’s kingdom. This worry is not about being remorseful and thinking about what we don’t have in this world or the worldly achievements we desire. Rather it allows us to invest time in the things of God. Philippians 4: 8 says “ and now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise”.

We need to learn the secret of contentment (Philippians 4:11). It is only through this ability to be content in all situations can we learn to let go and allow God to take control. By so doing we don’t waste any time worrying about what to eat or drink, wear or what we have not etc. Rather we get to invest our time in Christ by setting our “sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand (Colossians 3:1)”. Our thoughts ought to be “about the things of heaven, not the things of earth (Colossians 3:2)”.

As dearly beloved, we have no right to worry our heads over anything in this world as this world and its desires are fading away (I John 2:17), but we have a genuine command to make every effort to ensure that our calling by God is sure (2 Pet 1:10). That is what we ought to constantly think of. It is the only valid worry we have because an investment in Christ is a sure guarantee for salvation in time to come. It calls for a strategic approach. Be sure you are found seeking God diligently during His second coming. God bless you.
