"In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus. ” (NIV) Philippians 2:5

I remember as a child I made the unfortunate mistake of telling my mother that I was bored one hot summer day. She fixed that problem! I also remember listening as my mother discussed a particular gentleman who was angry with her for some illogical reason. She said, “He can get glad in the same pants he got mad in.” I learned a lot from such lessons.

One of the greatest lessons I learned is that attitude is not only important but it can be changed with effort. I learned that “boredom is a state of mind.” I learned that I can get glad in the same pants I got mad in. I truly can look at a situation and determine to find the best in it if I want to.

Unfortunately it is easier to find the bad in things. It does not take a great man to do that. It takes a great person to see good in situations that do not seem that good. It takes a great person to work with what is available and make the best of it. It takes no one of any greatness to tear down, but it takes strength and work to build.

So we must each make a decision. Will we choose to get glad or mad? Will we choose to do good or evil? Will we choose to tear down or build? Complain or praise? Rebel or submit?

The answer to these questions is determined by one word: Attitude. Family, we must make every effort to choose the right attitude if we want to bring glory to God.

Every morning we make decisions based on attitude. Let us first do what we can to have the right one. Little else matters.
