TAKE REFUGE IN THE LORD

Serve the Lord with fear and trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry and you be destroyed in your way, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him."(NIV) Psalms 2:11-12

Bible Reading: Psalms 2: 10-12

Anger is a strong emotion that one feels when we think someone has behaved in an unfair, cruel and unacceptable way. This can result in so much consequence if not well managed. It therefore means that what we do when we feel mistreated is very important. As Christians we need to manage our anger so that the end result of it is not disastrous. In our day to day activities, we are faced with issues that are irritating and thought provoking. These issues can break our spirits, if we allow them to.

There are times these issues that irritate us may come from family or friends and as such they hurt a lot. We become annoyed because the very people that claim to love us are the same people trying to stifle our spirits with irritating issues. It therefore means that we have no other person to run to. Even when we go to them, they aren’t able to help us because they will in turn criticize and blame us for their own attitude towards us.

Managing our anger becomes an important aspect of our Christian life. How do we then act in this time of anger? We must take refuge in the Lord in times of our anger. This is because His Word in Psalms 1:10-12 shows that His anger is for a moment. If we take refuge in God when we feel hurt by the comments and words of the people around us, we are able to forget the pain easily and we find the heart to forgive.

This is because the God whose anger is but for a moment comforts himself, so he is in a better condition to comfort us and sooth our pain as fast as possible before the day ends.

Refuge in the Lord God Almighty is our sure way of controlling our anger and being in the position to forgive others who hurt us on daily basis.
