So I said to the judge...

Written by Jack Williams.

"Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (NIV) Acts 2:38

A multitude of excuses are offered by those who refuse to obey simple Bible commands. How would those same excuses sound before a judge in today's courtroom.

The sign said STOP. I didn’t. So I said to the judge…

“I feel that everyone has the right to choose their own interpretation of this word.”

“My father never stopped. If I were to stop, I would be condemning him.”

“My family has always refused to stop. If it was good enough for them, it is good enough for me.” “I have gone so long without stopping, I just don’t think I can start at this time.”

“My preacher says I don’t have to stop.”

“What about those who have never seen the sign?”

“My parents made me stop when I was young so I just don’t do it now.”

“I believe that only going is important. Stopping is optional.”

“How do you know the word really means today what it did when it was written?”

“I’ll stop after I get my life straightened out.”

“I’ll stop when my spouse decides to stop. It will mean more if we do it together.”

“It’s not anybody’s business what I do.”

“I feel that as long as we are all sincere that you, the judge, will accept us no matter what we do.”

The Scriptures said, “Repent and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins” (Acts 2:38). I didn’t…. so I said to THE JUDGE…”
