He's got your back!
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" (NIV) Ephesians 3:20
Vicissitudes of life have seared our minds so much that most times we forget the Ancient of Days and underestimate the prowess of our Heavenly Father. When that which we know doesn’t align with reality; when our hopes are dashed and our world seems to crumble down, like Habakkuk we cry:
“How long, O Lord, must I call for help, but you do not listen?”
We fret and get ourselves worked up unnecessarily. Beloved, how differently would you live if you knew that every event of your life – from the happy to the tragic to the mundane is part of a meticulous and purposeful design in which all the elements intertwined with breathtaking precision? Do you realize that God is behind the scene pulling the threads together to constitute you into a beautiful tapestry to lighten up the world?
On his reflection on this subject, Ravi Zacharias, a Christian Teacher and Apologist, penned down this prayer, apparently a conversation that ensued between him and God:
“Your Ways mystify me O Lord
O yes in some journeys I feel you all the day; never doubted!
But sometimes you seem to vanish after half way of that journey.
At other times you appear to me in the very last moment
And you know Lord, sometimes I actually fear you will let me go over the edge.”
In His apparent response to Ravi, God assured him of His presence with these words:
“You are very unique my child
And I’ll help you learn of me of that uniqueness in mind.
You see, if I took everybody all the way, where is the room for their faith?
If I took everybody more than half of the way, where is the room for their love?
If I did not let you at times even feel abandoned, where is the room for my cross?
You are not what you’ll someday be.
I AM WHO I AM
And I know how to get you from who you are to who I am.
If you do not understand this, where is your hope?”
Dear reader, the scriptures are replete with such words of encouragement. In fact, God is able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can even think of or ask for but you see, IS ACCORDING TO THE POWER THAT WORKETH IN US!(Ephesians 3:20 (KJV)). Your faith in the Lord is your power; come on, don’t lose it to the devil! Set out every day with a spring in your step and a smile on your face and rejoice in the Lord, again I say rejoice because He’s got your back.
