Be On Your Guard

"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. ” (NIV) 1 Corinthians 16:13

One of the most challenging thing in our world today to hold on to our Christian virtues when we are presented with a proposal of a lifetime time which is contrary to the word of God. God has given to each and every one a measure of Faith. A faith that is sufficient to stick a bit longer in difficult times, with the Lord. However, some of us find it difficult to constantly declare our faith in God especially when troubles arise in our lives. We are weakened by the pleasures of this world such as financial difficulty, family issues, and diseases, to mention but a few. All these and many more are the challenges that the world brings to us today in the face of Modernization.

A lot of times we are faced with giving up on the basic Christian values that we hold on to daily. For instance, what does a Christian lady do when she has prayed hard for a job after school but fails to land one for several months and then when she finally lands a job, her boss demands that she sleep with him before her appointment is confirmed?

It takes God’s anointing in our lives and the constant support of brethren in Christ, as well as our conviction in God’s power in our lives to say a big NO to this. You know why? It is because this has been accepted as normal in our world today so no one sees it as unchristian. And your refusal means the job goes to the next available lady. What therefore is the point here?

The issue is that this world has so many proposals for humankind especially Christian men and women that are totally contradictory to God’s holy laws. We therefore have be on our guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong to say NO to these misleading fantastic proposals. What proposal have you been presented with? No matter how good and pleasant they may be, you can still step back, say a big NO and walk way to the glory of God.
