Don't Give Up Too Soon, Stick Up With It

By: Lizmat

“Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.” (NIV) 2 Timothy 2:3

Our world is full of problems. Difficult situations occur and we simply don’t know how to survive them. As Christians, these oppositions affect us and at times we feel like giving up. But God didn’t give us a spirit that is always afraid to fight to the end and win. In our lives, we need to learn how to endure tough situations. We have to keep going in the face of trials. In 2 Tim 3: 12, the Bible says that everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

God therefore expects that we cultivate endurance which is a good quality or virtue. He doesn’t expect us to run away when problems come our way. Paul admonishes us to endure hardship as good soldiers of Christ. This is simply because challenges and tough situations are for our promotion. We mustn’t pack up anytime they show up in our lives. Instead of giving up, we must acknowledge our courage and strength given to us in Christ. It must be mixed with hope so we can forge a greater and better future for ourselves in the midst of the storms.

Whatever problem you may be facing today, my beloved friend, I encourage you in the Lord to endure with hope, it is the kind of virtue that works in us a far exceeding and eternal glory. 2 Cor 4:17-18.

Hymn:The Solid Rock

My hope is built on nothing less

Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;

I dare not trust the sweetest frame,

But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain:On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;

All other ground is sinking sand,

All other ground is sinking sand.
