Flee from anger
"But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: ANGER, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips."(NIV) Colossians 3: 8

We must come to a realization that we are powerful beings through which good and evil can be manifested. God our creator made us free willed beings. The ability to make decisions on our own is the best and greatest asset giving to us by God.
As Christians we are bought with a higher price from the powers of darkness; that is to say the ability to do evil is what God saves us from. This means that we are weighed on the scale of Good works. As such we are free from the world but slave to the cross. We are expected by God to do the right thing. In our anger, God expects the best from us as His children. We are made in his image and as such we have to live to his glory.
Paul knew what anger can do to a Christian. He knew also that we could get angry; however being angry is not the issue but what we do during our anger is unavoidable and disastrous hence his message. We can only be born again Christians if we rid ourselves of all evil deeds of which Christ came to this world and the one of primary importance is ANGER. God tells us in His word never to allow the sun go down on our Anger.
In summary, all that we are trying to understand is this: OUR ANGER is something God hates because it can destroy a good Christian born truly of God, and as such we must DO AWAY with it among many other evil deeds and attitudes. God has given us the Power to do so and in Christ Jesus we have no CHOICE than to do away with it if we desire to be effective Christians.
