Walking in the Path of Blessing

Written by Daily inspirer Team.

“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.” (NIV) Psalm 1:1-3

God, in His infinite wisdom, provides avenues through which mankind can be blessed both spiritually and physically. The well-being of humanity on earth has always been the Creator’s desire. However, we have often neglected God and His promises.

From the text above, we find three "does nots"—things we should avoid if we are to receive God's blessings. These are counsel, way, and seat—with their corresponding verbs: walk, stand, and sit. These verbs mark a progression of evil: first, engaging with the principles of the wicked (walk), then becoming involved in their society (stand), and finally conforming permanently to their conduct (sit).

The second verse shows us what we should do as Christians to receive God's favor. Have you noticed the paths you walk, the places you stand, and the seats you occupy? How long has it been since you last read, studied, or meditated on the Word of God?

Let us reflect on these three ACTIONS, three PLACES, and three PERSONALITIES, and make it a priority to have quiet time with God as we journey through this new year.

Our lives will be like a tree planted by streams of water, constantly refreshed by the Everlasting Spring, bearing fruit in season. When we abide in Christ and obey His Word, we will prosper in all things as our souls prosper. Amen.
