The urgency of prayer
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (NIV) Ephesians 6:12
Bible reading: Ephesians 6:10-18
Praying to God is a vital habit to maintain daily. There are many reasons why your prayer habit may have lessened gradually. Well, not all the reasons could be bad, but largely the reason is probably the lack of the urgency of it. We can call it laziness, forgetfulness, and the busyness of life. However, no one who has seen the urgency of prayer has ever stopped praying regularly.
If you truly believe that there are “spiritual forces of evil,” “schemes of the devil,” and a “present darkness”, you will not hesitate to do as Paul says and “take up the whole armor of God” (Ephesians 6:10-18). According to Paul, a major part of being ready to handle the attacks we may face each day is “praying at all times” (Ephesians 6:18). As a believer whenever you think of prayer, think of being with God. Just as the Israelites in the Old Testament were powerless against their enemies whenever God was not fighting with them, we also stand no chance against any opposition unless God is with us.
Brethren, as you seek to be with God daily, crying out to God in your pain, and interceding for your loved ones, remember the urgency of your prayer. As air is vital to our bodies likewise prayer is to our spirit. You can’t survive without them. Your prayer life doesn’t have to be grandiose rather it should be natural and humble. It doesn’t have to be always lengthy, but it can be as short as a cry for help or thank you, God. Your prayers have to be real, sincere, and regular. Amen
