He is the God of possibilities- just trust and obey
"Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to the house of Israel failed; everyone was fulfilled." (NIV) Joshua 21:45
Many of us choose a specific transport or airline company when travelling and in doing so, the first consideration is the safety those buses or planes provide. When we finally board these buses or planes, we feel so relaxed and some even sleep comfortably till we get to our destination. Is it not amazing how we trust a man to control a bus or plane (another man-made machine) to get us safely to our destination? If man and other man-made objects which are fallible, can easily have our trust, why is it difficult for the infallible God to have our trust? The argument that man is moved by sight does not hold because God kept His promises with the people of the past and He is still keeping His promise with us and His promises are not only spiritual, they are physical as well.
Joshua 21:43-44 says, “so the Lord gave Israel all the land He had sworn to give their forefathers, they took possession of it and settled there. The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as He had sworn to their forefathers. Not one of their enemies withstood them, the Lord handed their enemies over to them.” The journey to the promise land from Egypt was not without drama. The Lord was with them throughout the journey to the promised land and they saw and felt the deliverance of the Lord throughout but as soon as challenges came their way, they long forgot that the Lord was with them. At the end of the day, at the Lord’s own appropriate time, the Israelites attested to the fact that the Lord fulfilled all His promises.
I call our generation, the “Israelites of our time.” We are behaving just like the Israelites of old. We experience, feel and see the hand of God in our lives but we long forget that He is with us when challenges come and we tend not to trust that just as He pulled through for us some time ago, He will do so again. Have you ever decided to take matters into your own hands to solve a particular problem because you felt the Lord was tarrying but no matter how hard you tried solving the problem, you felt more frustrated because the situation worsened? Our God is never late, His timing is perfect and He alone turns impossibilities into possibilities. Let us find strength in 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 whenever we seem to lose hope.
Our God is still the God of yesterday, today and the future. He is still the God of possibilities and nothing is too hard for Him. He will never abandon us. Let us stop doubting the capabilities of He who parted the Red Sea (Exodus 14:21), fell manna from heaven as food for years (Exodus 16) and raised the dead (e.g. John 11:38-44), just trust and obey and He will be there for you always. God bless you.
