Understand that He is God

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

“Understand, therefore, that the LORD your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.” (NLT) Deuteronomy 7:9

As years come and go, we believers have remained God’s most preciously held people.

He has desired to and continues to seek ways to be good to us. It is His very nature – A Good God.

But what has happened over these years? We fail to receive all the blessings that God desires to bestow on us out of the goodness of His heart and from His abundant provisions.

Recently, I went on an open-book journey with the Lord. During this phase of my life, I decided it was too tiring to always be asking and not receiving what I want on time or even at all.

I thought to myself, what will it be like to throw the ball into God’s court and sit back on a cup of juice with my Bible in my hands just listening to Him talk about His plans for my life and how much He wants me to yield to His ways and thoughts concerning me. This literally was how I abandoned a life of asking to a life of walking with God, doing what He wanted, when He wanted and how He wanted.

Three years down the line today, I can only marvel at His plans, ways and thoughts. Indeed, He is faithful and watches over the accomplishment of His word in our lives, only when we give our lives to Him.

Beloved brethren in the Lord, today God through this message is inviting you to come and know His plans for you.

His word says His ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8). Are you not tired too of asking and not receiving because you ask amiss (James 4:3)? Are you not tired of doing it your way for so long and it not materializing?

There is great fulfilment in letting God plan your life. The devil has been deceiving us by making us believe we can do this all by ourselves. That is the greatest lie from the pit of hell.

Deuteronomy 7:9 is telling us that God is the faithful one who keeps to His covenant. What He says He does. Yes, the time may not be per our time. Yes, how He chooses to do it may not be how you expect it to be. But one thing is sure- He is NEVER LATE and He does it BEAUTIFULLY.

He will transform everything you give to Him and multiply it. That’s who He is. Today, He calls you to Himself right where you are and says – “Trust me with your life. You cannot love yourself and give yourself anything better than I, God, have for you. I died for you at a high cost and I am willing to make that count in your life. I am ever present and willing to bestow my glory on you. You on the other hand just need to change your mind and understand that I am who I say I am – God, the sovereign one.”

“And you have to decide to let it go – all your desire and take my desires – my plan of salvation for you and rest in me” (Psalm 37:4).

His word says, seek first His kingdom and all other things will He add to you (Matthew 6:33).

Beloved, you are better off obeying God than overworking yourself in futility (1 Samuel 15:22). Open your heart this day to Him and invite His sovereignty into your life. Let Him know you acknowledge and accept His plans for you (Jeremiah 29:11) and ask Him to guide you as you seek Him in all righteousness.

If this is your desire for this year, Heaven will visit you and you will see God’s heart as you seek His presence. Amen.
