Do you want to see good days?

Written by Worlanyo & Emelia Darko Adzimah.

For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it. For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good? 1 Peter 3:10-13

What does it mean to see good days? A man who is blessed by God in all aspects of his life is definitely loving life and enjoying good days! Let us use Job as an example… Job definitely saw good days even through his misfortunes no doubt about that.

The Bible shows us one of the best strategies for doing good as Peter puts this in verses 10-11 of our devotional text “10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: 11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.

Now verse 13 is refreshing! “13 And who is he that will harm you if ye be followers of that which is good? No one can harm us if we are followers of that which is good. I know most of us will recognise this cultural belief that almost scares people into believing giving alms to beggars in our societies can be a bad omen because most of them are evil and will drain our financial wealth. See how the bible throws this belief out because it doesn’t just hold water. The bible states categorically no one can harm us for doing good. Yes, no one!

Let us never relent in doing good because there is a great reward and that is, we will love life and see good days that will certainly pass from one generation to another.
