Swallow the bitter pill

Written by Mantebeah Elizabeth Matilda Abena.

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them." (NLT) (Roman 8:28)

It doesn’t matter what you do and how well you plan your life, God’s purpose will stand (Proverbs 16:9). Never forget this – In as much as He is Sovereign and may allow or ordain you to experience some hard times in life; He doesn’t do that out of spite but out of great love for you. It is important to remember this truth and accept it as a way that God uses to shape us.

God is sovereign and the only way to welcome the great things His sovereignty has in store for you, without getting overwhelmed with your current challenges in life, is to openly declare your faith – that is God’s word over your circumstances as stated in Romans 10:10: “For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.”

His divine power has granted us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence (2 Peter 1:3). Therefore, set yourself apart to see things the way God sees them and have a new mind in view of the challenge(s) you are facing. ALL things (the good and the bad) work for your good. The most pleasing and the aggravating circumstances that seem to steal away your joy and peace, leave them at the altar and choose to believe God’s word. Choose to believe that God knows you and will surely bring you relief.

As we run to God for refuge, let us know it is to Zion and this includes our full awareness of His sovereignty in our lives and in every circumstance that He allows into our life. It is not to harm us but to give us a future and a hope and to bring us to an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11).
