Trapped in the fire

Written by Akua Oforiwaa Doku.

It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. (KJV) Lamentations 3:22

It was all joy as I had to attend an important event, one that I am thankful to God for. The journey took hours but was filled with songs of praise to God for his love and mercy. A few metres to my destination, something happened but the God who delivered the Israelites from Egypt and Daniel from the lion's den remembered me (Exodus 14:13-14).

The bus I boarded for the journey had a mechanical fault, so the driver and his mate alighted to fix the problem with the bus while the rest of us (passengers) were on board. After some minutes, the music playing in the bus stopped, the lights in the bus went off and the doors to the bus were shut because the central locking system of the bus was activated. Everything happened simultaneously. A passenger then exclaimed, “there is a fire in the driver's steer”!

It was a matter of life and death as we all rushed to open the doors of the bus but to no avail. I stood quietly in shock with others pushing me and struggling to break the door but to no avail. In the chaos, I was reminded of Isaiah 41:10- Fear not, I am with you; Be not dismayed...

After a while, the doors to the bus were unlocked and we escaped unhurt. I knew it was the mighty hand of God that saved us for I know all things work together for good for those who love God (Romans 8:28).

Brethren if it had not been God, we would have been consumed by the fire. I share this near-death experience to encourage anyone who feels trapped in a problem with no hope. Just believe that our God is alive and His mighty hands are widely opened to snatch you out of that hopeless situation-just believe.

Remember to count it all joy, brethren, when you meet trials and temptations, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing (James 1:2-4)

Let's thank God for His love and mercies that he has shown us throughout the past months. Don't give up, there is hope in God. Let us cling to Him in faith and thank him always through the changing scenes of life.

Be encouraged!! Be inspired!!!
