True Success (II)
“For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?” (NKJV) Matt. 16:26
The whole universe we know was created by God for a purpose and humanity is the most important of God’s creations. Why can’t we consult God if we want to enjoy portions of his creation? Jesus gave a simple success formula in scripture. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matt. 6:33). Just put Jesus first, and you will be successful. Christ cannot be second for us to be first and succeed, you cannot lead your commander. “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” (Eph. 3:20).
Self-control or discipline is key to success in both spiritual and physical lives. Christians must have "self-control" (2 Pet. 1:5-7) as we grow. No one can control you except yourself and if you are out of control it is your fault - no one else is responsible.
To be successful, you must be enthusiastic, optimistic and not pessimistic. We should not see work as punishment but as means to the end. “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going” (Eccl. 9:10).
To be successful in life, you must understand the background of your work. You are a caretaker of everything you are including your life. Your life is a gift from God. Time, material wealth like money and your energy are all from God and you are just a laborer for God. You can work better if you understand these. You are going to be accountable for all things one day before God. “It is required in stewards that a man be found faithful” (1 Cor. 4:2).
All the physical things we see will be no more one day but those in Christ will enjoy life on earth and life to come after here. Be in Christ now and stay forever and enjoy success.
