Seize the opportunity

Written by Dede Abebreser Tsonyake.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.” (NIV) Romans 1:16

I have noticed that the apostles of Christ preached the gospel when arrested and standing trials rather than mount their defense of no guilt. This trait amazes me. Why did they do that? Were they never interested in defending themselves and clearing their names? What was their motivation in making the gospel a priority? Can today’s Christians live like the apostles of Christ in the above regard?

Paul, the apostle, in Acts 21, 22, 23 & 24, stood for trial and the trial never ended without him preaching Christ. In fact, the trial turned into preaching salvation to the people. He took advantage of the large gatherings to do so. It was obvious that many of the people gathered at the trials were only interested in getting Paul imprisoned or gotten rid of but that did not stop him from proclaiming the gospel to the crowd.

Today, what opportunity are you seizing to preach Christ? We may not have the opportunity of large gatherings, but I am sure thousands of opportunities present to us to do just what Paul, the apostle did. At work, school, social functions, spending time with friends & family and wherever you find yourself daily, find the opportunity to preach Christ to all who may or may not even be willing to listen. God bless you.
