Make giving a must-do activity

“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry (NIV) Ephesians 4:26.

Giving is the only expression of love. If there is no giving, there is no evidence of love. Love therefore gives. Christianity is anchored on giving (love)-John 3:16, Galatians 2:20, Ephesians 5:25.

In the corporate world, a ‘must-do” activity is a necessary activity that must be done before the close of day or period. In fact, without it being done, it affects results. The same can be said of giving. Giving is love and Christians must love (give) one another as evidence of being disciples of Christ (John 13:35). Followers of Christ are to be known by their giving and this can be achieved by ensuring we make giving a daily “must-do” activity.

I once had an encounter with one of my favorite lecturers. He is not a Christian but he believes so much in giving that he made it a ritual to take all his project students out to dine at his cost after they successfully complete their thesis. The purpose of the dinner is to first give them a beautiful treat for successfully completing their first degree then advise them as they face the world. One piece of advice that stood with me till now is what I want to share. He said, do not spend what you earn on yourself and your family alone. He believes the bulk of one’s earnings must be spent on others for that brings happiness.

Today, make it a habit to give daily, yourself, time, money, knowledge etc. to the benefit of all, especially, those in the church. In Christianity, love (giving) is a “must-do” activity. God bless you.
