According to your faith, let it be done unto you

"Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment."(NIV) Matthew 8:13

Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, a conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1-ASV). It is clear from the first part of the definition that, if we ask anything of God, we should be certain or have the confidence that we will receive and the second part of the definition makes it clear that faith is to have a firm opinion of things that our eyes cannot see like we have never seen God but we have a firm opinion that He exists. So anytime we pray about situations and happenings in our lives and that still little voice in our minds keeps telling us “this is not possibly going to end well or happen” then it means we are faithless about what you are asking. Therefore, if Christ should say to us what he told the centurion, then you can imagine what we will be receiving.

The centurion came to Jesus to beseech Him to heal his servant who was sick at home, he was not hoping for Jesus to go with him to the house because he was confident about what our Lord can do. So, when Jesus told him that He will come to heal his servant, the Centurion said Christ should just speak the word where they are and his servant will be healed. Christ, who sees beyond the utterances, knew that the centurion had confidence in Him healing his servant without going home with him. So, Christ told him to go and that according to his belief, so it be done unto him.

The pivot of this devotional message lies in what Christ told the centurion “as thou believed, so it be done unto thee.” So if today, Christ whispers to you in that situation you are in, “as thou believed, so it be done unto thee”, are you sure that what you are asking is what will be done unto you? Frankly, many of us have no faith when it comes to difficult times in our lives. While our mouths ask of God one thing, we believe the opposite of what we are asking will happen. It is difficult sometimes to believe that what the human mind deems impossible to happen will happen but if we ask God to make it happen, we must find strength through prayer to silence that little still voice that keeps whispering that what we are asking for cannot happen and believe completely that it will happen because we have asked of Him who is greater than all.

A prayer for our faithlessness: God, please give us faith that does not waver but stands firm, especially in the most difficult situations, through Jesus Christ-AMEN! God bless you.
