Help a Neighbour

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

"Everyone helped his neighbor, And said to his brother, “Be of good courage!” So the craftsman encouraged the goldsmith; He who smooths with the hammer inspired him who strikes the anvil, Saying, “It is ready for the soldering”; Then he fastened it with pegs, That it might not totter." (NKJV) Isa 41:6-7

Competition for material resources, fun and fame will continue to exist among humanity. People always want to add more materials to what they have regardless of how we acquire these materials. We are all neighbours because God created only one couple through whom the rest of humanity was brought into the world. Do not let us see others as competitors or enemies because of their identity, dressing, skin colour, geographical location, culture, race, education, and status in life.

As we have been blessed with another day, let us purpose in our hearts to be the best to everyone we come across. Just be a helper to the next person. It may be a good smile, offering a helping hand, godly advice, love and care for the next person because you have no idea what the individual may be going through.

Such a show of love may save another person from their deep-seated problems and restore them to sound health for them to also enjoy the unsearchable love of the almighty God. If you truly love God, you will love other people equally created by God.

Abraham saved others through such love to visitors (Gen. 18), and Rebekah had a husband by offering water to unknown travellers (Gen. 24:15). Be careful how you treat others so as not to lose some precious blessings or an answer to some prayers you have been seeking. Remember, if you offer any assistance to others, you do it for God. Let us transform the world through a positive relationship with others.
