Created in the image of God

Written by Alfred Ofori Agyemang.

“Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” (NIV) Genesis 1:26-27

God is the creator of the universe and everything within it whether seen or unseen. Upon all the creations of God, none of them were compared to God. Other creations were made according to their own kinds. God took His time to create all other organisms before deciding to create humanity. He mobilized His best in bringing humanity to be part of His creations. That demonstrates how special humanity is to divinity.

Can we describe human beings by their brain size, ability to use tools, dentition and ability to walk up-right just like the way we do for animals? No, humans are far beyond basic descriptions because we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Like Jehovah in three parts (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) man was created to possess a body, a soul and a spirit. With this composition, man is ready to undertake the complexities of duties God expects from man.

During the creation, God took the following steps:

The Plan: Genesis 1:26 “Let us make man… “

The Execution: Genesis 2:7 “the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life,..."

The Result: Genesis 2:7 continued, “and the man became a living being.”

People of God, as you prepare to start your day, what preparation have you put in place? Take time to plan and organize your life the best way in line with God’s word and the results will be inevitable…perfect! You have the capacity from God to make things happen, so do it! Have a good day!
