Value your calling

Written by Christopher Opey Tetteh.

“Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble.” (NIV) 2 Peter 1:10

Truthfully, the Bible is the most priceless possession of the human race and its content is reliable and credible for salvation if only accepted with faith (2 Peter 1:3-4; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

The promise of God for those he has called and still calling is great and precious (2 Peter 1:4). Man was wandering in the world and had no hope until God sent Christ to redeem us from the darkness and bring us to the light. We must return this love with all diligence of heart and mind by making our calling sure and valuable.

It is also our duty to abound in perseverance, godliness, virtue, and self-control and also grow in the knowledge and grace of Christ. The opportunity to be part of the saved must be embraced with all urgency before it is too late to do so.

It is important to note that we must be worthy of the calling with which we were called before we can have our portion of the great promise of eternal life (Ephesians 4:1). May God send his Holy Spirit to remind us always to value our calling and make it sure. Amen!
