Find favour in the eyes of the Lord

“And Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord.” (NIV) Genesis 6:8

Genesis 6 gives a vivid account of how the earth was filled with people and sin dominated the world. God was grieved that He made man so decided to wipe man and all creatures from the surface of the earth. However, Noah and his family were spared. Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord because he was a righteous man, blameless and walked with God. So it is possible to be righteous and blameless in the sight of God? In our generation, can one find favour in His eyes? If Noah found favour in the eyes of God because he was righteous and blameless, then the answer to the two questions is definitely YES!

God has soft spot for righteous and blameless people. To be righteous means to strictly obey God’s word and to be blameless is doing nothing bad or wrong. So being righteous should make you blameless before God. If Noah’s story should happen in our generation, would we find favour in God’s eyes because we are righteous and blameless? God is not going to destroy the earth with water anymore as in the case of Noah but rather with fire. Will you make it to eternal glory because God finds you righteous and blameless?

Reflection

Pause for a minute or two and reflect on these questions and give yourself candid answers. If you can say “YES” to yourself, blessed are you. But if “NO” or “MAYBE” is your answer, today is the day to seek righteousness and thrive to be righteous and blameless before our maker.
