Contentment

Written by Derrick Owusu Antwi.

“Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content” (NKJV) I Timothy 6:6-8

As defined by the Oxford dictionary, ‘contentment’ as a noun means a state of happiness and satisfaction. True Christianity gives happiness and joy, whatever his position in life.

Considering the usual challenges of life in our era of the world, we desire to pursue our dreams to achieve greater heights. It is of good course and intention that we continue to work hard at such.

Beloved, in every situation we find ourselves; we should be satisfied and show gratitude to God for bringing us that far. God has promised to supply the things we need (Matthew 6:25-34; Psalm 34:10; Psalm 37:25).

However, to be content does not mean to sit aloof or nonchalant with our mediocre situation; rather strive to achieve greater heights coupled with the help of God in all happiness and satisfaction. We can go through life without having to worry that much (Philippians 4: 4-13); instead, be satisfied with our current position in life and working hard to improve upon in a godly way.

May God help us to be happy and satisfied in all stages of our life so as to be a blessing to ourselves and others. Amen!
