Be separate from the world

"Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” (NIV) 2 Corinthians 6:17

Brothers and sisters, how strange would it be for you to fetch a glass of water from a tap and half of it tastes bitter and the other half tastes fresh? Or how mysterious would it be to find yourself in a well-lit room yet there is darkness in the middle of it. James, the brother of Jesus, makes a similar allusion in Jam. 3:11-12 that neither can a fig tree bear olive berries nor the same fountain produce both salty and fresh water. Paul, therefore, appeals to us in 2 Cor. 5 and 6 to consider who we are on earth and be separate from the world. As sojourners on this planet, we must make it our only aim to please God knowing that we will appear before His judgement seat (2 Cor. 5:9-10).

As individuals baptized into Christ, we took on a new form (2 Cor. 5:17) that warrant us to divorce our affections for the world and walk in the light of God’s Word. The world must see God through us and that is the only way we qualify as His children (2 Cor. 5:20; 2 Cor. 6:18). Therefore, let us cut our umbilical cord from the sinful world we came from and be fully reconciled to God by serving His interest every moment of our life.

Brothers and sisters, in no way, can light and darkness stay together. Light drives the darkness away and vice versa. If you are daily living in the light, then keep on my beloved. If you have strayed from the light, please turn back now and be separate from the world.
