When I meditate in His Holy Temple

Written by Alhassan Mohammed Sandargo.

The Lord is in His holy temple; let all the earth be silent before Him” (NIV) Habakkuk 2:20

The ability to enter the presence of God is a great blessing given to man. However, it is an exercise that requires sober determination to yield a pleasing outcome.

With the constant demands of life, we mostly end up giving God the “leftovers” of our being. And to a larger extent, many are so befuddled regarding posture of the mind and heart in His presence, not to mention the several shortcuts of men in the presence of God.

But can we really hastily come to the gates of the Most High? The prophet solemnly wrote, “The Lord is in his holy temple; let all the earth be silent before him” Habakkuk 2:20. We need to pay much attention to silence in our daily lives. In silence and meditation upon God’s word, we are able to experience and focus on the greatest being, God Himself.

The Lord Jesus gave the perfect illustration when he constantly chose the solitude over the crowd in order to be with the Father (Mark 1:35, Luke 5:15-16, Luke 6:12). If Jesus needed to go through this spiritual exercise even before starting his day and any major schedule in His life, must we not even do much more?

Let us awake to the use of this important tool of meditation (silent reflections God-ward, focus on God, quality time with God’s word, prayer) to be in His presence. After all, we have been made into the very temple of God (1Corinthians 3:16; 6:19). And if temples, then there must equally be a constant connection with the Lord from deeper within.

And no matter the daily distractions that swarm against our good intentions to do right- to meditate in His presence, we must strive to meditate upon God’s word day and night (Psalm 1:2), for great is the reward therein.

When we meditate in His holy temple we shall stay blessed.
