Beloved, remember the warnings!

Bible Reading: Jude 1:17-23

Beloved, when we were told to gird up our loins (Eph. 6:14), it was for an eligible reason why we were told to do so. Paul in Galatians 1:6 was shocked about how quickly the church at Galatia had turned away from Christ to embrace another gospel. Many false claims have been made within our generation to deceive us into destruction and it is time we become vigilant.

Jude the Apostle not wanting us to be swayed by the seductive flattery of the false teachers challenged us to remember the warnings that had been previously sounded by the apostles (v. 17). Jude wanted Christians to remember the apostle's report of mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts (v. 18). Peter sounded a similar warning in 2 Peter 3:2-3.

Reiterating why the false teachers had to be stopped, Jude declared that they are sensual persons, who cause divisions and not having the spirit of God (v. 19). If false teachers are allowed to have their way, the church will be divided. This will be just the opposite of what Jesus prayed for in John 17:20-21.

Beloved, let us put on the whole armour of God (Eph. 6:10-18), and fight till the end so that we are not swept away from the faith we profess.
